'Desperately broke' MJ signed up for This Is It tour

London, Fri, 14 Jun 2013 ANI

London, June 14 (ANI): Michael Jackson was looking forward do his 'This Is It tour' because he was "desperately broke", a Los Angeles court heard on Wednesday.

Jackson, who died in June 2009 aged 50, weeks before he was due to begin a mammoth 50-concert run at London's O2 Arena, begged concert promoters to sign him up so he could buy a house, the Daily Star reported.

Randy Phillips, boss of concert promoters AEG Live, said that the King of Pop told him in 2008 that he and his three kids were "living like vagabonds".

He said that Jackson teared up about his family and having a good life with them and a place to live.

Phillips said that he felt incredibly bad that the late singer just couldn't buy a house with all this money he made and it just didn't make sense. (ANI)
