Lucknow, June 1 (IANS) A 57-year-old woman was murdered here after her house was broken into but the killers did not harm her 13-year-old granddaughter sleeping by her side, police said Saturday.
Phoolmati's murder took place in Vikasnagar area Friday. The granddaughter, Manju, woke up Saturday and found her grandmother dead, Superintendent of Police Habib-ul-Hasan told IANS.
Police believe the killing was linked to a tenancy dispute. The woman lived in a rented house and the landlord had been asking her to vacate the house but she did not agree.
