London, May 13 (ANI): BBC Radio Stoke presenter Paula White, who was due to host a final three hour show after six years as the radio station's afternoon host, had to be replaced after 30 minutes as she was found drunk and slurring through the show.
When a listener of the show sent a text to the producers, suggesting that the White was drunk, she denied it on air while trying to control her laughter, the Mirror reported.
She giggled and said that she had just a couple of drunks.
White, who has been DJing for 20 years, started her show at 1pm on Friday and invited listeners to send in their playlist requests later.
Returning after the first song, the DJ said: "It's a P-A-R-T-Y because I ssssaid sooooo?.?.?. Some people will say, 'Oh, thank goodness she's gone.'"
She threw out the playlist and thoughtlessly said that since it was her last day she could not be told to play out songs of other people choice.
At one point in the programme, she tried to play Katrina and the Waves' 'Walking On Sunshine' but played a jingle instead.
After she had somehow managed to stumble through half an hour on air, White's colleague Dan Siegertsz took over and finished the show by saying that White was not feeling well and has gone home.
Eric Potter wrote on Station's Facebook page and said that he was very surprised and upset by the anchor's unprofessional behaviour and the lack of respect shown by her to her employers Radio Stoke, and all her listeners on her afternoon show on Friday.
A BBC spokesperson said that White was unable to continue on-air as she was under par. (ANI)
