New Delhi, Apr. 20 (ANI): Doctors attending to the five-year-old rape victim at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here on Saturday said that the girl is stable and under observation.
AIIMS Medical Superintendent Dr. B.K. Sharma, who read out the latest medical bulletin, said that the girl was recovering and continued to be under close observation.
"At present her general condition is stable; she is recovering and continues to be under close observation and monitoring. She is conscious, alert and all her parameters are within the normal limits. She is speaking to her parents," he said.
Dr. Sharma further said although there was infection, she was responding to antibiotics.
"She is recovering well. She is responding to antibiotics, complete control will take time. Yes, there is infection but she is responding to antibiotics," he added.
Meanwhile, a 25-year-old youth allegedly involved in the rape of the five-year-old girl has been brought to the national capital from Patna and is presently being interrogated at the office DCP (East) Prabhakar.
Manoj Kumar was apprehended from Chiknouta, his in-law's village, from Muzaffarpur in Bihar early on Saturday morning. He was arrested by a team from Delhi with the help of local police.
In the wake of massive protests in the national capital against the rape of a five-year-old girl and demand for action against policemen who allegedly tried to hush up the case by offering money to the victim's parents, Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde today promised tough action against the cops who are found to be guilty.
"An inquiry is going on to find out if there was any lapse on the part of police. We will take action against the policemen who are found to be guilty. We are waiting for the report. Give us some time, we will take action," he told mediapersons here.
Shinde described the incident as very serious, and said there is a need to be alert to check such crimes in the future. (ANI)
