Soldier found unconscious state in J and K

Srinagar, Apr 4 (ANI): A soldier, named Rakesh Kumar was found in an unconscious state with his eyes gouged out on Thursday, this also spurred tension among commoners.

Rakesh Kumar was said to be missing as reportedly he was on leave and had left his hometown to rejoin on March 31.

State interior minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo denied the allegations that were made by the locals that the miscreants could be militants.

"I immediately informed the SHO (Station House Officer) of the concerned police station and asked them to investigate the matter. I also asked the SSP (Senior Superintendent of Police) of Jammu to look into the matter, but I want to make clear one thing that this incident is not related to militancy. The enquiry is in progress and I think by today or tomorrow the details will come out. The incident might have happened due to some rivalry or infighting," he said.

He was immediately rushed to the district hospital and is currently undergoing medical treatments.

A legislator, Radhey Shyam raised the issue in the state assembly on Thursday and pressed his demand for thorough investigation in the case and stringent action against those who committed such an act.

"I demand proper investigation to be done in the matter and the people who committed this heinous crime should be punished. Also the victim should be treated properly, as he lost his eyes now and he is young. He has a family whose care has to be taken care off. There is a sense of fear in the whole area after this incident. If necessary the victim should be sent to abroad for medical treatment," said Shyam.

The case was registered soon after he was sent to the hospital and police were investigating the matter.

Police suspected that miscreants thought that the victim died after their attack.
