Chatra (Jharkhand), Mar 24 (ANI): Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh on Saturday visited Maoists affected Jharkhand's Chatra District.
Ramesh met the state ministers and leaders and later reviewed the developmental projects in the area.
Ramesh also addressed a rally, assuring the locals, mostly tribals of bringing in fresh projects and expediting work in the incumbent developmental works.
"There is a special project for Saranda and Saryu. Tomorrow (on Sunday) I am going to Jhumra for which also a special project is underway. I have been requested to formulate a special provision for Garhwa, Palamu and Chatra," said Ramesh.
Ramesh's visit came a day after Home Secretary R.K Singh toured the area visiting security personnel camps to boost the morale of troops.
Maoists have significantly increased their presence in tribal and rural regions in Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha.
However, the government has termed them to be India's main internal security threat. (ANI)
