Narendra Modi to address BJP conclave today

New Delhi, Sun, 03 Mar 2013 ANI

New Delhi, Mar 3 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will address the ongoing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Council meeting today.

Modi and his Madhya Pradesh counterpart Shivraj Singh Chouhan also likely to be inducted into the Parliamentary Board.

BJP President Rajnath Singh on Saturday lauded Modi for achieving a third consecutive victory in his state and enabling the main opposition party to create a new record in the Indian democratic history.

"As far as I remember, the Bharatiya Janata Party has not registered a third consecutive victory in a state under one person's leadership in the Indian history till date. You all know that we achieved a third electoral victory in Gujarat under Narendra Bhai's leadership. He achieved a hat-trick and in true sense we all were very happy when the Gujarat results were out," said Singh in his address at the BJP's National Council meeting.

"We all were overjoyed for we had not seen the Bharatiya Janata Party achieve a third consecutive victory under one person's leadership," he said.

"His government has earned praise from the international world, be it America, considered to be the most developed nation, or the European countries, all have praised his development model and good governance," he added.

Singh also expressed his gratitude to all the BJP party workers in Gujarat and the people of the state for making Modi the chief minister for a third consecutive term.

The BJP President's remark came amid growing chorus within the main opposition outfit that Modi be given a larger in national politics and made the party's Prime Ministerial candidate in 2014. (ANI)
