New Delhi, Feb 4 (IANS) Overcast sky, light showers, and cold winds marked the opening day of the week in the national capital and the city is likely to experience hailstorm Tuesday, the Met Office has said.

Light rain coupled with cold wind in the day appeared to have brought the chill back Monday, but there was no drastic dip in the temperature as minimum temperature settled three notches below average at 11.7 degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperature was recorded three notches below average at 19.3 degrees Celsius.

Earlier Monday, the capital woke up to a cloudy morning.

"The sky will be cloudy Tuesday. Rain and hailstorm are expected in some parts of the capital," said an official of India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 19 and 11 degrees Celsius Tuesday, according to weather office forecast.
