Lucknow, Jan. 28 (ANI): Hundreds of teachers and school employees, recruited on contractual basis, launched a massive agitation outside the state assembly here on Monday, demanding higher payment and regularization of their jobs.
Venting their anger, teachers and employees gathered outside the state's legislative assembly and demanded revision of their recruitment orders with an increased and fixed salary.
"We as contractual teachers, who teach help the government during elections and conduct census, are given only Rs. 3,500. It is not fair; we are protesting against this injustice," said Jitendra Sahai, a contractual teacher.
For a long time, the teachers and employees of the non-aided schools are demanding an increase in salaries and fixed salary of nearly Rs. 5,000 per month.
Although recognized by the state education board, the non-aided schools are not entitled for any regular financial grant from the state government.
The state has over 150, 000 'Shiksha Mitras' (contractual teachers) who teach in the state-run primary schools. (ANI)
