Washington, Jan 19 (ANI): Michelle Williams, who sang about being a "survivor" a decade ago, has in fact only recently found her way through the darkness.
The 32-year-old singer said that she has dealt with depression, adding that she had to choose to get out of bed and do whatever she needed to do to be happy, People magazine reported.
Williams first suffered from the mental health disorder as a teen, but managed to recover without the use of medication - thanks to therapy, exercise and positive thinking.
She said that she's opening up about her experience to encourage others to seek assistance.
"We're taught, 'Just go to church and pray about it. The Lord is going to heal you. Well, in the meantime, I believe God-gifted people, physicians, doctors, therapists - that's your healing. Take advantage of it," she said. (ANI)
