Washington , Thu, 17 Jan 2013 ANI

Washington, Jan. 17 (ANI): A majority of Americans do not want government spending cuts tied to the debt ceiling debate, according to a new poll.

The ABC News-Washington Post Poll found that nearly 58 percent of Americans said the two issues should be separate, while 36 percent said that both should be connected.

The poll found that even Republicans are split on the issue, despite top GOPers, including House Speaker John Boehner, saying they want the issues tied, Politico reports.

Nearly 48 percent said that the issues should be linked, while 45 percent disagreed, the report added. (ANI)
