New Delhi, Jan 8 (IANS) Former auditor R.P. Singh and Attorney General Goolam E. Vahanvati will appear before a parliamentary panel looking into the 2G spectrum issue on Jan 22, sources said Tuesday.

"Some members had written to the committee to ask R.P. Singh to appear again in view of some recent statements he had made," Joint Parliamentary Committee Chairman P.C. Chacko told reporters.

Singh, a former CAG director general had alleged that he was forced to sign the controversial report of the official auditor Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) on 2G issue which had said an estimated loss of Rs.1.76 lakh crore in allocation of spectrum.

Chacko downplayed the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) demand for calling Finance Minister P. Chidambaram before the committee.

"You know all what had happened in the past. There were demands, there were walkouts, there were coming backs," he said.

The BJP members had earlier walked out and came back to the meeting demanding Chidambaram be called. However, BJP member Yashwant Sinha who has been most vocal on calling Chidambaram was not present Tuesday.

Sources said the JPC hopes to complete examination of witnesses by Feb 12 after which it will start drafting the report. Members of the Association of Unified Telecom Service Providers of India, which represents CDMA operators, appeared before the committee Tuesday.
