New Delhi, Jan. 3 (ANI): With a Congress leader held in Assam for allegedly attempting to rape a woman, the chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW), Mamta Sharma, today said the person accused of such a heinous crime should get full punishment as per the laws, as sparing a VIP would be an injustice to the common man.
"Whether it is Congress BJP, BSP or SP, I would say that the person accused of rape should get full punishment (irrespective of his background). Sparing any leader or a VIP, I believe will be injustice to the common man," she said.
According to reports, angry residents nabbed Bikram Singh Brahma, a Congress leader from Assam's Chirang District, after he tried to rape the woman. (ANI)
