Cold wave continues in Himachal

Shimla, Jan 1 (IANS) Cold wave conditions continued to prevail in entire Himachal Pradesh Tuesday with the higher reaches experiencing temperatures below freezing point.

However, due to clouds, the minimum temperature in the state increased by two to three degrees Celsius in the past 24 hours, bringing a slight relief, a weatherman said here.

Keylong, the headquarters of Lahaul and Spiti, was the coldest in the state with a low of 6.5 degrees below freezing point. The town saw minus 9.3 degrees the previous day (Monday).

Kalpa, some 250 km from here, saw a minimum temperature of 1.4 degrees Celsius, while it was one degree in Manali and 5.6 degrees in Dharamsala.

These towns Monday saw a low of minus 2.6 degrees, minus 3 degrees and 5.8 degrees, respectively.

The Met office has forecast mainly dry weather in the state till Jan 5.
