World's largest online retailer and US-based e-commerce firm Amazon has launched its Kindle store in India that provides over one million e-books to Indian customers.
The company also launched its best selling e-reader Kindle on Wednesday in the country priced at Rs 6,999.
Speaking on this occasion Russ Grandinetti, Vice President of Kindle Content said, "We are proud to launch this new Kindle store for Indian customers, offering Kindle book purchases in rupees. In addition, we are excited to work with Croma to make Kindle available at retail outlets across India".
India Kindle Store will also feature e-books from the bestsellers and works of Indian authors like Chetan Bhagat, Ashwin Sanghi, Ravinder Singh and Amish Tripathi.
Ajit Joshi, CEO and Managing Director of Croma said, "We are excited to be the first retailer in India to offer the latest generation Kindle to our customers. This product will launch exclusively in all Croma stores across India".
