Delhi Police have busted a gang involved in dealing with fake Indian currency in various localities. Police have arrested four members of gang namely Abrar (40), Firoz Saifi (26 year), Farukh (aged 25 years) and Bashir @ Bishu (aged 38 years). Fake Indian Currency Note of denomination of Rs.500/- amounting to Rs. 5,98,500/- Lac have been seized.
According to Sanjay Kumar Jain, DCP Crime received information that a gang headed by Farukh and Abrar involved in fake currency notes is active in Delhi. It was found that the gang would come at Ali Pur Road, Near Mukkarba Chowk on a motorcycle with huge quantity of Fake Indian Currency Notes.
This information was further developed and a decoy customer was deployed to strike a deal with the gang members. At 5.30 P.M two persons arrived at the specific place. As soon as the accused persons stuck a deal with the decoy customer, the team immediately apprehended the accused. The Fake Indian Currency Notes of very fine quality amounting to Rs. 1.90 Lac were recovered from them.
The accused identified their associate Farukh as the supplier of fake currency. At the instance of accused persons Farukh was apprehended and fake currency worth RS. 8,500/- recovered from his possession.
The accused Farukh is a tailor by profession and has worked for sometime in Seelampur area. About six months ago he came in contact with one Bashir Ahmed who lured him into the business of smuggling FICN. Farukh roped in Abrar and Firoz to further supply the notes in Delhi.
According to police sources, the rate of buying the notes was 1 Lac fake currency for RS. 55,000/- the same was to be sold for RS. 65,000/-. Farukh got his supply from Bashir in Malda who in turn got his counterfeit notes from Ajeebul.
Further investigation is in progress.
