West Bengal Congress has said that if TMC is interested to fight alone, the Congress also has no problem to go alone in the coming panchayat polls in the state. State Congress chief Pradip Bhattacharjee has accused Mamata Banarjee of meddling with the rights of democratically elected rural bodies in the state.
Bhattacharjee said, "If they (Trinamool) want to go alone in panchayat polls, then they are free to go. It is their political decision. We want to say that we are also ready to fight the panchayat polls alone. We have the strength to fight and win alone."
It is noted that Mamata Banarjee had hinted last month in a public meeting that there is not need for its alliance with Congress in the state and announced to end the tie. Her intention was clear that TMC is all set to fight the polls alone and it has strength for the same.
Bhattacharjee requested the state government to stop unnecessary bureaucratic interference with the elected rural bodies of the state.
"There is an unnecessary meddling with the democratic rights of the elected rural bodies. In many places, the bureaucracy has been asked to function on behalf of rural bodies. This is undemocratic," he said.
Needless to say, there was a bitter relationship between both the parties with the formation of the government in West Bengal. On several occasion both the parties have accused each other for various decision either state level or central issues.
