The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) on Friday demanded from Centre to recall Gujarat Governor Kamla Devi Beniwal on the basis of corruption charges as BJP has accused her for acquiring a piece of land in her native state Rajasthan through "forged documents".

"Gujarat Governor has shown herself as a farm labour working for 14-16 hours a day and has taken a piece of land worth crores of rupees," alleged BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi to media.

"We have taken this type of scam and crime seriously... We demand that in view of serious corruption charges, she should be called back immediately," added Naqvi.

Earlier, Rajya Sabha got disturb over uproar held over this matter. BJP MPs demanded the suspension of question hour to discuss the issue.

As soon as the house met, BJP MP Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi demanded suspension of question hour to discuss the issue. When Chairman Hamid Ansari did not allow this, BJP members were on their feet alleging that the central government wanted to avoid the issue.

Amid the din, the chairman first adjourned the house for 15 minutes, and then till noon.

The BJP has alleged a land scam worth Rs.1,000 crore and accused the Rajasthan's Ashok Gehlot government of "gifting" developed land in Jaipur to a few Congress leaders, in which Beniwal is said to be involved.
