New York, Dec. 28 (ANI): A 20-million-dollar lawsuit filed by Jennifer Lopez that alleged her former driver was trying to blackmail her out of 2.8 million dollars has been thrown out by a Superior Court judge.
In a December 21 ruling that came to light late Wednesday, Judge Joseph Kalin threw out the claim by the former 'American Idol' judge, the Daily Mail reported.
Lopez had sued her former chauffeur and head of security, Hakob Manoukian in August, saying that he had tried to blackmail her by threatening to reveal damaging information he'd obtained about her during his time of employment.
According to the lawsuit, Manoukian had worked for Lopez for about a month before quitting because of a dispute with her management team.
Shortly thereafter, in October 2011, Manoukian engaged in "blackmail, extortion, and related acts," the lawsuit said.
The lawsuit claimed that, on October 3, 2011, Manoukian's then-attorney had made written and oral demands that unless his client was paid 2.8 million dollars, he would disclose sensitive and personal information of Lopez that he had allegedly heard while driving the pop diva.
The suit was actually a counterclaim made in response to a complaint filed by Manoukian.
In that suit, he claimed that he was forced to resign from his position after being denied "production pay" was owed to him.
Manoukian's suit, filed in April against the singer and her manager, Benny Medina, is still pending. (ANI)
