BSF puts troops on alert following Kasab's hanging

Jalandhar, Nov.21 (ANI): A general alert was announced along Punjab's border with Pakistan by the Border Security Force (BSF) after the execution of Ajmal Kasab, the lone surviving terrorist involved in the 26/11 terror attack on Mumbai.

Media reports quoted BSF Inspector General Aditya Mishra, as saying: "We have put our forces along the border with Pakistan on a general alert following Kasab's execution. Troops have been directed to stay alert."

Kasab was hanged at Pune's Yerawada Central Prison on Wednesday morning.

The event took place under complete blanket of secrecy imposed by the Central and Maharashtra Governments.

The news of his hanging was only confirmed by Maharashtra Home Minister R.R.Patil and Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde at around 8.30 a.m. this morning. (ANI)
