Chhath Puja: Municipal Commissioners inspected various ghats in Capital

Municipal Commissioner, North and South Delhi Municipal Corporations, P.K.Gupta today took a round of the ghats on the banks of Yamuna to review the arrangements for Chhat Puja near the ghats. He directed the officials to make all out efforts to clean the ghats so that devotes coming from various parts of the city can worship properly.

He further directed the officials of the Corporations to level the surface near the ghats so that devotes could not face any inconvenience during the prayer. During the inspection, Municipal Commissioner visited the Ram Ghat at Wazirabad, Kudesia, Geeta and Sita Ghats at Kashmere Gate, Haathi Ghat at ITO alongwith senior officers of the Corporations.

During the course of inspection, he directed the officials to arrange temporary changing rooms near the ghats for the ladies and toilet blocks. Mobile Dispensaries were also stationed at Ghats for the convenience of devotes.

He directed to remove all the garbage near the Ghats so that devotees could pray in a holy manner. Municipal Commissioner, EDMC, Sajjan Singh Yadav inspected various ghats falling in the area of East Delhi. The Ghats at Yamuna Bank (Back side of Akshardham), Ghats at New Ashok Nagar Metro Station etc. were also seen during the inspection.

He directed the officials of the East Delhi to deploy its staff to provide basic facilities like sanitation, toilet blocks, change rooms etc. at the ghats to the devotees coming for prayer. He also directed the concerned staff to level the surface near the ghats so that the devotees do not face any problem during the prayer. He also directed the officials of the Horticulture, Health, Engineering and Sanitation Departments to do the work assigned to them in a proper manner.
