President Pranab Mukherjee has reportedly cancelled his two-day visit to Maharashtra, scheduled to begin Thursday, television reports said.
According to TV reports, no reason was given for the cancellation.
But it is being estimated that there can be a strong reason of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray 's ailing condition which worsened Thursday morning and he has been put on the life support system.
Mukherjee was to attend a function in Mumbai and then proceed to Shirdi for some functions associated with the Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust.
Meanwhile, Thackeray continues to be critical in Mumbai. Doctors treating the 86-year-old at his Matoshree residence said he is on life support.
According to the latest reports, traffic to the residence of Thackeray has been blocked and there is heavy presence of police personnel in the area.
This comes hours after reports said that the Shiv Sena supremo is on continuous oxygen and not eating anything.
