New Delhi, Mon, 12 Nov 2012 ANI

New Delhi, Nov. 12 (ANI): Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Sitaram Yechury on Monday said that the Left Parties would move a resolution in the upcoming Winter Session of Parliament to disapprove Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the retail sector.

"In the coming parliament session, the left parties will move a resolution under the clauses, which entail voting, disapproving the foreign direct investment in multi- brand retail sector," he said.

Yechury further said that they would conduct a nationwide signature campaign in December and January, seeking food security for the people.

He demanded that at least 35 kilograms of food grains, at rupees two a kilogram, should be provided to each family in the country.

"We have decided to conduct a nationwide signature campaign in the month of December and January against various set of reforms, particularly demanding food security for our people," said Yechury.

"Which has been our demand that universal public distribution system should be strengthened and at least 35 kilograms of food grains at rupees two a kilogram at the minimum, not exceeding more than two rupees a kilogram, must be provided to all families," he added.

The Congress-led UPA Government is at the moment under sharp criticism over the move to allow FDI in retail and price hike. (ANI)
