BJP confident of victory in poll-bound Gujarat and Himachal

Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh), Nov. 3 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday expressed confidence of a victory in the poll-bound states of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.

Highlighting good governance and developmental works being carried in the BJP-ruled states, party spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that his political outfit would once again emerge victorious in both Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.

"Good governance versus bad governance is an important issue and the BJP Governments have carried out development works despite unfavorable circumstances in these two states," said Naqvi.

Battle lines have also been drawn for Sunday's poll for the 68-member Himachal Assembly where political heavyweights Prem Kumar Dhumal and Virbhadra Singh leaving no stones unturned in garnering the attention of voters' presently facing the heat of price rise.

Moreover, the rampant corruption seems to have surpassed the anti-incumbency factor.

The BJP and the Congress are contesting all 68 seats in Himachal Pradesh, while the BSP has fielded 66 candidates followed by Himachal Lokhit Party (36), Trinamool Congress (25), Samajwadi Party (16), Communist Party if India- Marxist (15), National Congress Party and Swabhiman Party (12 each), Communist Party of India (7), Shiv Sena (4) and 105 Independents.

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi had earlier this week also expressed confidence of a big win in his state, and said that his party will celebrate a 'bigger Diwali' on December 20, the day when poll results will be out.

Elections in Gujarat will take place in two phases on December 13 and 17.

The counting of votes in both Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat will take place on December 20. (ANI)
