Lady Gaga and Pussy Riot to get John Lennon Peace award

Lady Gaga will share a biennial LennonOno Grant For Peace with 4 others including Russian punk band Pussy Riot and Christopher Hitchens.
Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono will present the award and a donation to Gaga in Reykjavik, Iceland on October 9 (the birthday of John Lennon and his son, Sean).
Lady Gaga is being honored for her work towards the equality for gay, lesbian and transgender people.
Ono said in a statement, "Gaga is one of the biggest living artists of our time and she is also an activist whose album Born This Way altered the mental map of the world."
LennonOno Grant For Peace is a peace prize in memory of John Lennon.
