Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has exhorted the construction agencies to ensure quality of material and construction. She further instructed to chalk out a plan of action indicating schedule of allotment of already constructed dwelling units to the eligible applicants. She stated after chairing a meeting attended by all Ministers the Mayor South Delhi MCD, MLAs in capacity of their being member on the Committee, the Chief Secretary, Pr. Secretary, UD and all concerned senior officers.
The Committee gave its nod to four pilot projects under Rajiv Awas Yojna for construction of dormitories accommodation to be given on rental basis to the firms, contractors for industrial workers engaged in construction projects, other migrant workers who cannot afford shelter at open market rates and seasonal workers and non eligible slum dwellers.
Under these projects 7672 rooms offering ten-bedded dormitory and five-bedded dormitory would be constructed by DSIIDC with an estimated cost of Rs. 906.30 Cr. Under two projects 3052 rooms will be constructed at Kanjhawala and under two another projects 4620 rooms will be constructed at Samaspur.
The Committee also gave its ex-post facto approval to DMRC for purchase of 228 non AC midi mini feeder buses. Earlier, the approval was given for purchase of AC mini feeder buses. The 228 buses would be deployed to provide an effective transport link for passengers between metro stations to and fro nearby colonies.
