Students protest police inaction in tracing abducted girl

Bihar,Crime/Disaster/Accident, Tue, 30 Oct 2012 IANS

Patna, Oct 30 (IANS) Hundreds of school students took to the streets Tuesday demanding that the police rescue an abducted 13-year-old school girl in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district, a police official said.

A Class 7 student of a public school in Muzaffarpur was kidnapped Sep 18 night from her home.

"Anger against police inaction is growing in Muzaffarpur town. It has been over 40 days since she was abducted. There is no trace of her," the girl's father Atulya Chakarwarti said.

He alleged that his daughter was kidnapped by property dealers, as he owns prime land in Muzaffarpur. "When I refused to sell the land to them, they threatened me," Chakarwarti said.

Deputy Inspector General Sushil Man Singh Khopde said: "A team of Special Task Force is working to trace her and a Special Investigation Team has been constituted to probe the case."
