Civil aviation ministry removes derogatory graffiti at Thiruvananthapuram Airport

New Delhi, Oct.16 (ANI): The Union Civil Aviation Ministry has acted promptly on a complaint forwarded by the cultural cell of the Maharashtra Congress for removing derogatory comments scribbled against women political lLeaders on the walls of the gents rest room at the Thiruvananthapuram Airport.

Responding to a letter sent to it by Mr. Guru Nair, Vice Chairman, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (Cultural Cell) on the issue, Dr. A.P. Singh, an official in the office of the Minister of Civil Aviation, Ajit Singh, said that the objectionable comments had been removed and that staff posted at the airport had been sensitized to be more vigilant and expedient in dealing with such complaints.

The minister's office reiterated that it was always civil aviation depatment's endeavour to provide the best possible ambience and services to passengers, besides guaranteeing their safety on ground as well as onboard.

Expressing his satisfaction over the corrective action taken, Mr. Nair said that the derogatory comments at the airport were removed after he written to the minister's office several times.

He said that allowing the scribbling of such comments in the public space was a dishonour not only to Indian women, but also reflected very poorly on India's culture and heritage. (ANI)
