Chandigarh, Oct 10 (IANS) There was a new twist to the alleged gangrape of a pregnant Dalit woman in Haryana with the police Wednesday saying she called up one of the two alleged rapists minutes before the crime.

The 19-year-old married woman, who is five months pregnant, had alleged she was gangraped by two young men Monday. The police later arrested the two accused.

Kaithal police chief Kuldeep Singh said mobile call records of the woman and the alleged rapists revealed that she had called up one of them late in the night before the incident.

The girl, from Kalayat in Kaithal district, 140 km from here, alleged that she was raped Monday by two men who abducted her and took her to the fields. They dumped her Monday evening after tying her hands.

She was medically examined Tuesday and police said the possibility of sexual assault could not be ruled out.

Kuldeep Singh said the woman was five months pregnant and had known the alleged rapists.

"One of them is her neighbour and she was intimate with him. She was not living with her husband," he said.

With this, 15 rape cases have been reported in Haryana in 31 days.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi Tuesday visited Narwana in Jind to meet the family of a Dalit girl who committed suicide after being gangraped Saturday.

Girls from the Dalit community have been raped in Hisar, Sonipat and Rohtak district in the past one month.

Haryana has seen sexual assault cases in Rohtak, Hisar, Jind, Bhiwani, Yamunanagar, Panipat, Sonipat, Ambala, Karnal, Faridabad and Kaithal in the past one month.
