'The Training Course in Book Publishing at Goa' being organized by the National Book Trust, India in collaboration with Krishnadas Shama Goa State Central Library, Directorate of Art & Culture, Panaji and Konkani Akademi, Panaji.
Vishnu Surya Wagh, eminent writer, dramatist, actor, MLA and Chairman, Kala Academy at Sanskruti Bhavan today, inaugurated the function. The other dignitaries present during the occasion were Pundalik Narayan Nayak, Eminent writer and Chairman of Goa Konkani Akademi and Sridhar Balan consultant, Ratna Sagar Publishers, New Delhi.
While inaugurating the Training Course, Wagh, said that in Goa, the publishing has not started as an industry yet and there is a need to develop the industry in a disciplined way. He was of the view that during this two-week deliberation, the participants of the course would benefit with various aspect of book publishing.
Pundalik Narayan Nayak spoke about creating book culture in Goa which would help in developing the Book Publishing Industry.
Sridhar Balan said that the publishers may not have any threat with the digitization's of books or e-books as he felt that both e-books and printed books would co-exist and would compliment and supplement each other.In this two week long course the resource persons would be coming from all parts of the Country and sharing their experiences in all aspects of publishing.
Earlier, Sumit Bhattacharjee, Assistant Director, National Book Trust, India and course coordinator welcomed the guests and participants, who have come to join the course from various parts of the Country.
