Fellow author sympathizes with JK Rowling for gaining too much wealth at young age

London, Sept 20 (ANI): J K Rowling could be "imprisoned" by the huge fortune that she has made from the 'Harry Potter' books, according to fellow author Joanna Trollope.

Having sold more than 450 million copies of the boy wizard books and amassed an estimated 560-million-pound fortune, Rowling causes envy among her fellow authors.

She has, however, provoked pity from Trollope, who is best known for her bestselling novels 'A Village Affair' and 'Marrying the Mistress.'

"I have nothing but admiration for her, but I wonder if there comes a point where money begins to imprison you in the way that the lack of it had before," the Telegraph quoted Trollope as saying.

"Of course, I know that she's very sensible with it and gives an awful lot to charity, but I imagine when you have heaps of money, it can be as bad as when you had none at all," she said

Rowling was a single mother living on social security benefits when she wrote her first Harry Potter novel. She was 31 when it was published.

Speaking about those such as the pop star Robbie Williams who find fame while young, Trollope said: "I was in my late forties when The Rector's Wife became a bestseller, so I already knew who I was and what was important to me. It was the most wonderful addition, and I really value it, but success didn't change me. I don't think I'm a different person."

"I look at all these people who become famous at a young age and feel sorry for them.

"They think they want instant fame and then they get it and I'm sure it's great for a few years, then they realise it's not what they want at all. You need to ask someone like Robbie Williams if it's really all it's cracked up to be," she added. (ANI)
