Youth arrested for blackmail, rape in Ajmer

Jaipur, Aug 19 (IANS) A 19-year old youth was arrested in Rajasthan's Ajmer district Sunday for allegedly raping a teenaged girl by blackmailing her on the basis of an MMS that showed her in a compromising position, police said.

The accused had circulated the MMS among his friends before being arrested, they added.

According to police, the accused, identified as Aditya Kumar alias Akash, is a resident of Beawer town in the district, some 190 km from Jaipur.

"The girl had lodged a first information report (FIR) against Aditya Saturday. She alleged that he had made an obscene MMS showing her in a compromising position. She claimed that he raped her and then circulated the MMS among his friends," a police officer told IANS.

The officer said that Aditya has been booked under section 376 of Indian Penal Code for rape and various sections of the Information Technology Act.

The officer said that Aditya's friends who further circulated the MMS to others are being identified.

"Some of them will also be arrested," he added.
