Ramdev will have to vacate Ambedkar Stadium today: R.K. Singh

New Delhi, Tue, 14 Aug 2012 ANI

New Delhi, Aug 14 (ANI): Union Home Secretary R.K. Singh said yoga guru Baba Ramdev will have to vacate the Ambedkar Stadium on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde today met Home Secretary Singh and other officials of his ministry to chalk out the future course of action.

Delhi Police, which has submitted its report on Baba Ramdev's agitation to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), expressed security concern ahead of Independence Day.

Baba Ramdev, who had earlier ignored the request of the Delhi Police and spent the night at the capital's Ambedkar Stadium, will end his fast at 11 a.m.

Baba Ramdev will be vacating the Ambedkar Stadium after ending his fast, as he has been requested by the Delhi Police to vacate the stadium before August 15 because of security reason.

However, it is still not clear whether the yoga guru will leave for Haridwar or go to Gujarat after ending his fast.

Baba Ramdev had last night said that there is no question of vacating the stadium and the future course of action would be decided today.

The yoga guru had earlier on Monday evening said that he would not end his fast, and demanded that the government should provide food to all his supporters at the Ambedkar Stadium here.

Baba Ramdev accused the government of spending money on 'terrorists lodged in jail'.

"Whose responsibility is it to feed the people here? This government does not love the people and a government that doesn't love its people has no right to rule. This government is willing to spend Rs 25 crores on terrorists," he said.

Baba Ramdev said any movement becomes successful only if the people lend their support to it, and added that several political parties such as the NDA, including the BJP, and the TDP are supporting his campaign.

The yoga guru also claimed to have the support of Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, in his agitation which he claimed was committed to the nation's welfare.

"Any movement is victorious if the people support it. And the people are with this movement Mulayam Singh, Mayawati, Naveen Patnaik, all NDA parties and BJP support our movement," he said.

Delhi Police yesterday lifted Section 65 imposed on the yoga guru and thousands of his supporters and asked all those detained to walk free.

Delhi Police had earlier taken Baba Ramdev and his supporters into preventive custody at the Ranjit Singh flyover during the attempted march to Parliament.

Baba Ramdev was earlier denied permission for the march by the Delhi Police. He had been authorised only to hold a large sit-in at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan.

Several political leaders came out in support of the yoga guru earlier on Monday afternoon. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari and Janata Dal-United (JD-U) chief Sharad Yadav and Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy joined Baba Ramdev on his stage at the Ramlila Maidan here

Baba Ramdev had earlier declared that he would take his ongoing protest on black money and corruption to Parliament and vowed to oust Congress in the next Lok Sabha polls. (ANI)
