Lucknow, Aug 11 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Saturday said Uttar Pradesh was in the grip of a "jungle raj" (lawlessness) and accused the Samajwadi Party government headed by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav of complete failure.
The authorities failed to check violence reported since Friday in Kanpur and Lucknow, with mob torching vehicles over local issues, state BJP spokesman Manoj Mishra said.
"There is nothing like a government" in existence, he said.
State BJP president Laxmikant Bajpai accused the state government of minority appeasement and said it was for this very reason that the state had recently witnessed many communal clashes.
