Congress sets up screening panel for Himachal, Gujarat, Tripura

New Delhi, July 24 (IANS) The Congress Tuesday set up screening committees for poll-bound Himachal Pradesh, Tripura and Gujarat in an indication that it will declare its candidates early.

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit will head the screening panel for Himachal Pradesh, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi wil head the screening panel for Tripura and Union Road Transport Minister C.P. Joshi will head the Congress panel to screen candidates in Gujarat respectively.

The panels for each state also include Congress in charge of state, state Congress chiefs and leader of the legislative party.

Minister of State for Home Jitendra Singh is a member of screening panel for Himachal Pradesh, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas R.P.N Singh is member of screening panel for Gujarat and Minister of State for Road Transport Jitin Prasad for Tripura.

The screening committees wil look into the recommendation of candidates sent by the respective states.
