Cloudy day in Delhi, rains expected Sunday

New Delhi, July 21 (IANS) There was no sign of rain in Delhi again Saturday, with residents facing a hot and cloudy day with the maximum temperature peaking three notches above average at 36.6 degrees Celsius. Rains have been forecast for Sunday.

The weak monsoon continued to give capital a miss but the weatherman forecast some relief from heat Sunday with rains and thundershowers likely.

"Generally cloudy skies are expected Sunday, while light rains or thundershowers may occur in some parts. The maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 35 and 28 degrees Celsius," said an India Meteorological Department official.

Saturday's humidity recording showed a maximum of 81 percent and a minimum of 55 percent while the minimum temperature was 28.6 degrees Celsius, two notches above what is average for this time of the season. No rainfall was recorded till 5.30 p.m.

Friday's maximum temperature was three notches above the average at 36.7 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was 32.2 degrees Celsius, five notches above the season's average.
