New Delhi, July 19 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday took potshots at Rahul Gandhi over his recent comments that he would now play a more active role in the party and the government, and asked whether the Congress General Secretary was really far away so far from the country's politics.

BJP leader Smriti Irani questioned Gandhi's silence on matters related to 2G spectrum scam, the 2010 Commonwealth Games (CWG) and the spiraling inflation, which has been hurting the common man of this country.

"Why does Rahul Gandhi maintain silence on matters concerning 2G scam, Commonwealth Games and the spiraling inflation? I would welcome if he wants to attach himself more to the politics of the Congress. But I would like to question him was he really so far away so far," she said.

Rahul Gandhi today indicated he will play a proactive role and the decision on the timing will be taken by party chief Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.

He said a decision has been taken on playing a bigger role and the timing depends on the leadership.

Rahul Gandhi's comments came after senior Congress leaders expressed that he should take the front seat in party affairs. (ANI)
