Aliens would look like jellyfish, says leading scientist

London, Fri, 06 Jul 2012 ANI

London, July 6 (ANI): A leading scientist has used an artist to create her vision of extraterrestrial lives.

Jellyfish may be nothing like a Star Trek alien, but Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock reckons this is how an extraterrestrial would look.

Basing her theory on how life began on Earth, she believes the mutants would be large marine-type animals with metallic skins and orange backsides.

They would suck chemicals from the atmosphere and communicate using pulses of light along their spines.

If her assumptions are true, we will never make contact with aliens as they are so far away.

"The sort of planet this creature lives in, hydrogen and methane rich, would find the atmosphere of Earth corrosive," the Mirror quoted Dr Aderin-Pocock MBE, one of the first credible scientists to claim aliens exist, as saying.

The more we find out about the conditions in which life can occur, the more precise our calculation of extraterrestrial life becomes.

"Conventional wisdom has been that life is carbon-based. But researchers are doing work with silicon-based life forms," he stated.

Dr Aderin-Pocock, who works for space firm Astrium, wrote in the Mirror on Monday about how four alien societies probably exist in our galaxy.

She used an artist to create her vision of an ET.

The main features of Dr Maggie's aliens are: Pulses of light for communication with other aliens; Mouth type openings to scope chemicals from atmosphere for growth and reproduction; Bodies that enlarge in sunlight; Metallic surfaces for absorbing light; Lenses for detailed viewing of their surroundings; Orange undersides for camouflage and Buoyancy sacks to maintain altitude.
