New Delhi, July 4 (ANI): Defence Minister AK Antony has ordered the immediate transfer of Lt. Gen Jitendra Singh, Commandant of the National Defence Academy, Pune, after senior officers of NDA were arrested by the CBI for their involvement in a cash-for-jobs scam.
The CBI recently arrested the physical training officer and presiding officer of the board of NDA for recruitments, Col. A. K. Singh.
"The Defence Minster has ordered immediate shifting of Lt. Gen Jitendra Singh, Commandant, National Defence Academy (NDA), from the Academy. This is with the view to ensure a free and fair investigation in the alleged bribery racket in the recruitment of Group 'C' posts in the NDA, Khadakwasla, Pune," said a Defence Ministry release on Wednesday.
The premier investigating agency earlier arrested six accused in the Rs.1.76 crore recruitment scam in the NDA last month, and raided 17 locations in Mumbai, Sonepat and Gurgaon in Haryana and 14 in Pune, including the NDA.
The CBI special court on Tuesday remanded Colonel Singh to custody till Saturday.
Singh, a key accused in the cash-for-jobs scam at NDA, was arrested on Monday after his anticipatory bail plea was rejected.
