New Delhi, June 29 (IANS) Pakistan should admit that arrested terrorist Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jindal was involved in the 2008 Mumbai terror attack, union Home Minister P. Chidambaram said Friday.
"Pakistan should admit that Jindal had gone to Pakistan. He was part of the group which prepared (the plan) and trained (Ajmal) Kasab and other nine (terrorists involved in the attack). Jindal is one of the handlers and mastermind of the Mumbai attack," Chidambaram told reporters.
He was replying to a question on Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik's remark that 26/11 attack handler Jindal was an Indian citizen and that Pakistan could not be blamed for his action.
"I agree with Rehman Malik that Abu Jindal is an Indian but he found safe haven in Pakistan. Pakistan should also admit the facts that they had provided passport to Jindal. Two identity cards were found from Jindal," added Chidambaram.
Jindal was deported to New Delhi by Saudi Arabia on June 21 for his alleged role in the 26/11 attack carried by 10 terrorists said to be Pakistani. Ajmal Kasab was the lone terrorist who was arrested and is in Mumbai jail. The November 2008 terror strike killed 166 people, including foreigners.
