Intense heat wave in Amritsar leads to water and power crisis

Amritsar, June 27 (ANI): Residents of Amritsar are facing an acute shortage of water and electricity due to the heat wave.

The scorching heat has left locals distressed, compelling them to remain indoors. Some gathered near a canal to get some respite from the heat.

Narender Singh said, "In Amritsar, there is a lot of heat, and there is no electricity and water in our homes. We are facing a lot of difficulties. People have come to this canal to take a dip in the cold water and enjoy."

According to meteorological department officials, the heat wave will continue for a few more days.

"It is very hot, and we are sweating all the time here. So, we like to stay in the canal so that we can beat the heat, as there is no electricity. We get power only for few minutes and there is no electricity for several hours. We have gathered here at the canal to enjoy as we cannot do anything at home," said Satnam Singh, a local.

According to meteorological department, this year's heat wave has broken all previous records. The weathermen has advised people to avoid going out in the sun between 12 to 4 p.m., and take all precautionary measures to protect themselves from the heat. (ANI)
