Washington, June 8 (ANI): Tech giant Apple has reportedly planned to disrupt the U.S. launch of Samsung Galaxy S3, by asking a court to temporarily ban the sale of the latest smartphone.
Apple claimed that the S3 breaches two of its patents and said the handset is 'not more than colorably different from the Galaxy Nexus', which has been the target of past disputes.
Apple, that filed its motion earlier this week, said it is still trying to determine whether the S3 also breaches two other patents.
Samsung, however, denied the accusation, saying the launch would proceed as planned.
According to The Telegraph, Samsung said it believed Apple's request to be 'without merit'.
"We will vigorously oppose the request and demonstrate to the court that the Galaxy S3 is innovative and distinctive," Samsung said in a statement.
According to the report, the Galaxy S3 is due to launch in the US on June 21.
The dispute is the latest in a long round of lawsuits and counter-lawsuits between the two tech giants.
Apple alleges that Samsung's Galaxy range of smartphones and tablets are "slavish" copies of the iPhone and iPad designs.
The Korean-based firm has retaliated by claiming Apple has infringed its 3G technology. (ANI)

Whenever Samsung comes with a high end phone the apple cries saying that that is a copy. This has now become the habit of Apple. The truth is that apple is behind in technology, it has no new tech to come with. It wants to do business without competition. Moreover, apple products are not compatible with standard devices (eg., its bluetooth does not work with other devices)- then why a company would copy an apple? Furthermore, apple should give up its trademark name since apple is a fruit which they can not patent. US patent office should think about cancelling apple's patent for the reason stated above ...
