New Delhi, May 31 (ANI): During the national executive meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the sound-byte brigade of media had one question in common--- " Why Advaniji is leaving the meeting mid-way? Why is he not attending the ceremonial concluding the public rally? At that time, the media was told about his earlier fixed engagement and in particular the health ground that supposedly stopped him from attending the Mumbai rally.
But today, almost after seven days, the answer has been given by LK Advani himself. The reply to thousands of inquisitive minds has been given in a blog, where Advani very honestly admits that " people are today angry with the UPA Government, they are also disappointed with us".
"The situation calls for introspection," he adds.
Advani, the architect of BJP's success, is writhing with pain as is reflected in his blog, when he says, "the mood within the party these days is not upbeat". Apparently, Advani has made it clear in his blog that he disapproves the conduct and arm-twisting tactics of some leaders, who have made the entire party sit on its knee to fulfill the demands of a certain group.
Advani has specifically mentioned " Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley " for their wonderful performances in Parliament. Ironically, he has ignored to mention Narendra Modi who has earned the nomenclature of " Shadow Prime Minister", and is being projected by certain groups as the Prime Ministerial candidate for 2014 parliamentary election.
In an indirect attack on present president Nitin Gadkari, Advani laments the decisions taken during the Uttar Pradesh polls and the way corruption issue is being handled by the party. Advani has written that "the manner in which the party welcomed BSP ministers who were removed by Mayawatiji on charges of corruption, the party's handling of Jharkhand and Karnataka - all these events have undermined the party's campaign against corruption".
The blog has appeared at a time, when the entire NDA has called for a" Bharat Bandh" on petrol price hike. Deployment of Sanjay Joshi, the BJP leader whose resignation was extracted just before the Mumbai national executive meet has raised many eyebrows. But the blog emphasizing on " introspection" will definitely put the party leaders in a huddle and impose pressure on them to work out a way, which would at least "won't disappoint" the general public.
The blog is an honest admission of a fatherly figure of the party, who has single-handedly brought the party into the power corridor. And when he sees the internecine infighting within the party then he is left with no option, but to express his disappointment and frustration in words in a blog, which is undoubtedly one of the most popular blogs.
Only time will say, whether the party heeds to the advice of " introspection" or it further intensifies the infighting. By Pankaj Choudhary (ANI)
