Assam Govt. appoints 26,000 teachers to uplift state's education standard

Guwahati, May 27 (ANI): The Government of Assam has appointed nearly 26,000 teachers who will be posted in different parts of the state.

All of them cleared the teacher's eligibility test before taking their appointment letters at Sarjusai Sports Complex.

The state government, has clearly expressed its intention to uplift the standards of education in the state.

It is planning to appoint another 29,000 teachers by September.

Assam has the highest number of schools, colleges and universities in the region.

There are a total number of 44,309 primary and middle schools, secondary schools, high schools, colleges fore professional as well as general education, universities and other educational institutions in the state.

There are some of the best known technical and professional institutes of international repute.

These include; Cotton College, Centre for Plasma Physics, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, National Institute of Technology, Silchar, North Eastern Regional Institute of Water and Land Management, Defence Research Labroratory, and others.

Schools in Assam occupy an important position in the entire northeast.

The state has become a major destination of education because of some of the world-class schools in Assam.

School education in Assam is imparted through a number of pre-primary, primary, middle, high and higher secondary schools.

Most of the schools mainly follow Secondary Education Board Of Assam (SEBA). But there are also many schools under Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

The medium of instruction is either English or Assamese.

Most of the schools of Assam have very good infrastructure with good school buildings, libraries, playgrounds, laboratories etc. Assam too has many good Kendriya Vidyalayas which provide quality education to its students along with other co-curricular activities and are at par with government-run schools. The residential schools in Assam too impart excellent education to the children.

The main aim of the schools in Assam is not just to provide academic education but to inculcate certain social qualities of responsibility, love, trust, fellow feeling, discipline and sincerity. (ANI)
