Khunti (Jharkhand), May 21 (ANI): Jharkhand Police recovered a cache of arms, including two guns, 32 bullets, four cell phones and 14 sim cards of various networks from Maoist insurgents after a shootout on Monday.
Acting on a tip-off, police personnel were dispatched to a forest near Karra village to intercept a meeting of the banned People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) outfit.Speaking to mediapersons, M Tamilvanan, Superintendent of Police, said the shootout lasted over half an hour and further investigations are on about where the weapons were procured from, as well as the number of militants who were injured in the encounter.
" When the rebels saw our men, they opened fire. Our men fired back in self-defence. The shootout continued for over half an hour, after which they fled, leaving some weapons behind, including a foreign-made double-barreled gun and a .315 bore single barrel gun, apart from cell phones and calling cards. We don't know how many of them were injured, and are investigating further," he elucidated. (ANI)
