Chennai, May 12 (IANS) Two young girls injured in Monday's plane accident in Nepal have pleaded to their Chennai-based uncle to come and take them back home.
"Come here and take us from here," the two girls have pleaded to their uncle, K.Srinivasan, in Chennai.
They do not know that their mother S.Latha has died in the same accident and their father T.K. Srikanth, is lying unconscious in Manipal Hospital.
"The two girls - Srivardhini and Sreepada - have suffered minor injuries. They are calling us at regular intervals pleading to take them away from the hospital. We are not in a position to contact them. The Indian embassy officials are there at the hospital," Srinivasan, a bank employee, told IANS.
His wife and Latha are sisters.
Srinivasan said it would provide lot of comfort to the two young girls if there is somebody with them continuously at the hospital till he reaches there.
"We are in a state of shock. We are shattered to think about the two little girls who will now have to grow up without their mother," he said.
Srinivasan and his brother-in-law are planning to reach Nepal via New Delhi at the earliest.
On Sunday, he had spoken to Latha over the phone. She had promised to call the next day.
While a call did come, it was not from Latha but from somebody else conveying the bad news.
According to him, the doctors are yet to declare Srikanth safe.
Srikanth's elder daughter Srivardhini has suffered injury in her right eye while the younger daughter Sripada has fractured her right leg.
The Srikanths were in the US for five years and came here a year back. Srikanth was employed in Infosys.
At the time of the accident, Srikanth's parents were in Tirupathi.
Thirteen Indians on a pilgrimage to Nepal and two crew members were killed when a 20-seater plane slammed into a cliff in western Nepal Monday, authorities said.
The Agni Air Dornier plane, carrying 16 Indians and two Danes, as well as three crew members, crashed in Jomsom, known for its magnificent mountain views and the starting point for major trekking routes, at about 9.45 a.m.
