Kolkata/Patna, May 11 (IANS) Lightning Friday killed seven people in West Bengal and five in Bihar, officials said.
The deaths took place in Karandighi village in North Dinajpur district, about 430 km from Kolkata, and in a village in Araria district, 350 km from Patna.
The dead in West Bengal were farm workers including two women. They died under a makeshift shelter during a thunderstorm, North Dinajpur District Magistrate P.N. Bhutia said.
In Bihar, four children and another person died in a field. Two people were injured.
