Two labourers run over by train

Ghaziabad, April 26 (IANS) Two labourers were run over and dragged 50 metres by a train in Ghaziabad Thursday morning on the Delhi-Moradabad railway track, police said.

 

The SP City S.S. Yadav said, "Two men have died in a train accident due to their fault being engaged on the phone while crossing the railway track. The legal formalities have been completed their dead bodies have been sent for autopsy and families have been informed at their local residential address in Mahendra Enclave".

 

The incident took place in Pandav Nagar residential locality under Kavi Nagar police station of this city. The train was going from Delhi to Moradabad.

 

The police said at about 10.00 a.m., Thursday two labourers were going to their work place in an industrial area. Hira Lal (40) was busy in talking on his mobile phone while crossing the track. His colleague Sonu (34) saw that a train was approaching in full speed from the Delhi side.

 

Sonu tried to drag Hira Lal from the track but instead of rescuing him he also came under the train.

 

Both people were dragged by the train for 50 meters. Hira Lal died on the spot while Sonu succumbed to his injuries in the local Sarvodaya Hospital.
