US lecturer under fire for showing pornographic film during class

Washington, Apr 19 (ANI): A US lecturer has been accused of showing what critics are labelling as a pornographic film in her "Introduction to Human Sexuality" class.

Peggy Gish, listed under Fresno State's College of Health and Human Services, showed the video titled "Advanced Sexual Techniques, Volume One" to her students last week, according to the Fresno Bee.

The film's product description says it "discusses how to increase your sexual knowledge, increase pleasure, and heighten intimacy" while promising to "take you on an explicit sexual journey."

This led Oliver Darcy, self-identified as the co-founder of Exposing.Leftists.com, to bill the film as pornographic on the blog campusreform.org.

Gish told the school's newspaper 'The Collegian' that all the media attention has been "overwhelming."

"It's been kind of tough just having to worry about certain things and be misrepresented - accused of something that wasn't accurate," LA Times quoted her as saying.

Gish defended the video to the paper, saying it was meant to educate students about relationships and communication.

She told The Collegian her syllabus states that sexually explicit material will be shown in the course and that students have the opportunity to step out of class if they are uncomfortable.

Fresno State's dean of the College of Health and Human Services, Andrew Hoff, defended the course and the video along similar grounds, telling the Bee the class is not required.

Gish's course is far from the only human sexuality class offered at universities, though it is unclear how many courses use videos as a part of instruction. (ANI)
