Chennai, Mar.24 (ANI): A Dutch woman was found dead in a hotel in Mahabalipuram near Tamil Nadu capital Chennai.

The murdered woman, who was staying with her partner in Mahabalipuram, was found dead on Thursday.

Tamil Nadu Police have said that they suspect her partner, also from the same country, for the murder.

The woman, identified as Johanna Cornelia Lamberta, 36, arrived with her male friend Remco Elisabeth Martin Joseph on March 10 at Chennai Airport and headed straight to Mahabalipuram.

Both took a house on rent in Mahabalipuram. This was their fifth trip to India.

On Friday morning, Martin told the police that he found Johanna dead when he woke up on Thursday morning.

He claimed that some unidentified people barged into the house on Wednesday and attacked him.

He fell unconscious and found his female friend dead the next day morning when he woke up.

He claimed that on Thursday he had left the body in the house and went to Chennai to contact The Netherlands Embassy.

He returned at night and slept in the same house with the body on one side. The woman was visibly strangled to death. (ANI)
